Hi Everyone!!
I am excited to attempt the CEO Cape to Cape Trek in May. This trek will take place over a condensed 5-day period and all proceeds go direct to Zero2Hero. In total, I will be walking 135kms, from Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse to Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse in the South West of Western Australia.
After working with Olive Branch Enterprises over the last year and subsequently establishing
our Joint Venture, 'Brooks OBR Maia JV' I have had the pleasure of getting to know the Champion Family and learning more about their Indigenous culture, goals, strengths, struggles and sheer passion for their community.
What has struck me the most, is the volume of mental health issues and cases of suicide amongst the youth in their community.
This will be my main motivator in completing this challenge and I hope you can support me on this journey!
Some sobering statistics...
75% of mental illness is formed before the age of 25 and suicide is the leading cause of death for Australian’s aged 15 – 44. Zero2hero believes that by educating and empowering our young people with knowledge and skills, to support themselves and help their peers to do the same, mental health and wellbeing can be improved and suicide can be prevented’.
